is characterized by its high quality ski centres, artificial snow
cannons, lighted tracks to ski at night, and qualified instructors
willing to answer any queries you may have. Las Leñas, Penitentes
and Vallecitos are the three ski centres in Mendoza, where you can
practise this amazing sport. |

Las Leñas |
Las
Leñas Valley is the most modern of the great ski centres in
Argentina. It has 34 km of ski tracks at 2.250 - 3.430 m above sea
level. It also has a big surface for off tracks extreme skiing.
12 lifting facilities, with a capacity to transport 10,000 skieres
an hour, guarantee a short queue.
At Las Leñas Valley every detail is thought for skiers comfort.
Closeness between the tracks and lodging options is such that you
can literally ski to your room.
There is a variety of 3, 4 and 5-star hotels, apartments and dorms.
A more economical alternative is to lodge in Malargue, a 45-minute
drive from Las Leñas, where ski equipment can be hired at half
their price. |

How
to get there: 450km from Mendoza City, in Malargue
department, and 1200km from Buenos Aires. You can travel by plane,
car or coach. There are flights from Buenos Aires to Malargue’s
Airport, from where Las Leñas can be reached by coach. During
high season, there are direct flights from San Pablo (Brazil) to Malargue.
By car from Buenos Aires there’s national routes 7, 188, 143,144,
40 and provincial route 222 to Las Leñas, 20km after Los Molles.
Season: From June 11th to September
24th. Divided into high. mid, and low season.
Activities: skiing, snowboarding
and skimobiles riding. |

Penitentes |
174km
from Mendoza City, along international route n°7, only 4km from
Aconcagua hill and very close to Chile.
Penitentes offers a variety of activities and the privilege to ski
on snow of perfect conditions on all of its tracks at all kinds of
difficulty levels.
One of the advantages of Penitentes is that all lodgings are on the
same foothill, which literally allows you to go in and out of your
room on your skies, an irresistible pleasure. Lodging alternatives
are wide and range from youth hostels to 4-star hotels. There are
also fully equipped apartments available for rental, with all necessary
facilities and strategically located in the heart of the foothill.
Other lodging alternatives are offered in Uspallata and Puente del
Inca. |

How
to get there: you can get there through international
route n° 7, which is fully paved and there are no mountain roads.
By plane, there’s Francisco Gabrielli airport, at 6km from Mendoza
City. Form Buenos Aires there are flights with transshipments in Ezeiza,
to make connections with international flights.
There are different coach companies that connect Mendoza with the
rest of the country and nieghbouring countries. From Mendoza there
are regular transport services to Penitentes.

Vallecitos |
It
is the oldest ski centre in the province and it is at 85km from Mendoza
City, in Potrerillos.
Located at the foothill of Cordón del Plata. The basis is at
2.900 m above sea level, and it is ideal to practise Northern and
Alpine skiing. Snowboarding and Skiing of different difficulty levels..
It has 12 tracks, which amount to 100 ha of surface suitable for skiing
on dry and sugar snow.
There are tracks of different difficulty levels: beginners, intermediate
and advanced, all along depressions and linked with each other, amounting
to a total of 5km.
In Summer, its shelters are occupied by mountaineers who wish to reach
the Plata Summit or its neighbouring mountains. |
